Javier Elizondo Esquivel is a Costa Rican architect, explorer and photographer. Over three years he tracked down and photographed waterfalls across the country, and in 2019 he published the book Cataratas y Leyendas, which features 129 of them. He founded Waterfall Trail, offering low-impact guided hikes and canyoning with local guides, and he takes on only architecture projects that work in harmony with the environment. In 2021 the Costa Rican Tourism Institute featured him in its Héroes Turísticos series. He advises Grow Jungles on conservation outreach and connecting people with Costa Rica's forests.
